About Susuke

Susuke, also known as Sudoku Jigsaw or CrossSums, is a modern-day fusion of Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. Its origins can be traced to the late 20th century when puzzle enthusiasts sought to combine the logical deduction of Sudoku with the spatial problem-solving skills required for assembling jigsaw puzzles. The result is a game that's both challenging and immensely satisfying.

How to Play Susuke

Susuke retains the core principles of Sudoku but adds a fascinating twist involving jigsaw-like regions. Here's how it works:

  • The Grid: A Susuke grid consists of nine 3x3 regions, each containing nine smaller cells. These regions are irregularly shaped, resembling jigsaw puzzle pieces.

  • The Numbers: Like traditional Sudoku, you must fill in the cells with numbers from 1 to 9. The objective is to ensure that each row, column, and jigsaw-like region contains every number exactly once.

  • Jigsaw Regions: Unlike standard Sudoku, the regions in Susuke are not traditional 3x3 boxes. Instead, they take on unique shapes, each resembling a jigsaw piece. These irregular regions add an extra layer of complexity to the puzzle.

  • Logic and Deduction: Solving Susuke requires a combination of Sudoku-style logical deduction and spatial reasoning. You must consider both the numbers and the shapes of the regions to find the correct placements.

  • Trial and Error: As you progress, you'll encounter situations where educated guesses are necessary. However, minimizing guesswork is a sign of a skilled Susuke solver.
